EVERYDAY DIGITAL ART
Lino. Photography. An archive of images.
I’m exploring my creative side after a career with numbers, creating colourful digital images through various media.
Use the post and homepage #hashtags to filter by media, theme or colour - or just explore randomly.
Lino prints are hand coloured and then digitally enhanced for colour balance.
Photography is straight out of camera.
There is a smattering of other media. Etching includes drypoint and tetra pack work, and together with ink works are similarly hand coloured before being photographed.
I’m calling this Everyday Art because I don’t pretend otherwise.
To each image I have added context notes, creating a history of my work. Naming has year and month to give an approximate timeline to the work, so I (and you) can see how it has developed over time. The good and the bad (well, there are gaps in the sequence so not the truly awful!) are all included.
My digital art (and stories) has been moved to dbwords.quotion.co
I’m not on social media yet.

0073 - 2024.02 Tulips in jar
This was based on my wife’s flower arrangement in the dining table. So simple, so elegant. It is one of my favourites and a poster size version is hanging in the stairwell leading to my study (which

0074 - 2024.02 Bird over dry country
Going back to my doodling days. I repeated an earlier design in Lino. Black border, simple design, applying watercolour. Not the best print but it was I did on the day, and it has hand-made look to i

0070 - 2024.02 Impatiens
I promised the good and bad, this is definitely “less good”. I was a bit out of practice when I did it. In the garden shade the original plant was very dramatic, deep pink red against dark green leav

0060 - 2024.02 Three yachts on the horizon
Back in my doodling days this was something I drew, so I thought to reproduce it in Lino. Except I didn’t. I just got the old doodle art out and photographed it. The dodgy lower frame line sort of su

0058 - 2024.02 Flower(b)
Following the idea of Flower(a) I drew another similar design in ink - again about 1 inch / 2 cm in size, hand coloured before photography. My iPhone photo app allowed me to extract the core image an

0057 - 2024.01 Flower (a)
I had a small off-cut of Lino and used it to do a quick flower, printed on rough calligraphy paper, hand coloured. Then photographed and digitally fiddled with the saturation settings. The original is

0056 - 2023.12 Blackbean
The flowers on the Castanospermum Australe Black Bean tree were, I discovered when out walking, more on the internal branches. Different, I thought; I should do a Lino print, and took a photo. The le

0038 - 2023.11 Gum leaves and flower buds
When I first created and printed this I was not sure about it. But in adding it to the archive I had another go at colour balancing and the brighter image, while not as true to life, has more “pop”.

0036 - 2023.11 Leaves and twigs
A drypoint etch from collected plant cuttings, printed at 1:1 size. Pleasant enough but lack oomph. Interestingly this is one of my last drypoints - did I subconsciously lose interest, or was it sim
